Trip to the Tropics 2006!

We have set-out to make the library a fun and exciting place and boy was it ever during our winter "Trip to the Tropics" on December 27th and 28th!

Why a "Trip to the Tropics" in December? Why not?! We thought it would be a nice break from the cold and the snow. That is...if we had any cold and snow this Winter. Despite that, we still had a great time!

So what did we do? First, we decorated the library to give it a tropical feel...

Miss. Tammy made this great display. She's also the one that came-up with the whole "Trip to the Tropics" idea!

Then we directed people downstairs where there was a ton of crafts, programs and FOOD!!! (Thanks to Dunkin Donuts in Clark for the donated breakfast!)

Here kids are going from table to table, making pirate hats, edible Hawaiian snowmen, sea shell sailboats, and more!

After crafts, it was time to learn how to make balloon animals!

Afterwards, lunch was served. (Thanks to Chili's in Clark for the donated food!)

After lunch, it was time for the teens to learn...

...while Miss. Tammy read a story and did a craft with the younger kids.

Annnd after all that it was time for a movie marathon: Cool Runnings, Hook, and Pirates of the Carribean I: The Curse of the Black Pearl all in a row!

The next day we did more crafts, showed more movies and ate more food! (Thanks to Villa Stefano Pizzeria and Dairy Queen in Clark for their generous donations!)

Soon it was time for our raffle - we had prizes for people of all ages. Here's Miss. Tammy announcing the names of the winners

Later, teens made time capsules in the library's auditorium. Inside they'll store things like letters, pictures and ticket stubs. Then they'll hide the capsule and open it years from now, to see what they were like in 2006.

We finished off the celebration with another movie: Pirates of the Carribean II: Dead Man’s Chest.

As always, Dennis made popcorn

To those of you that came, we hope you had fun! To those of you that didn't, we hope to see you next time!!!
